    Himchal Pradesh also known as the land of snow-capped mountains. It is situated at the northen tip of India, surrounded by Sivalik range and the Himalayas. Himachal Pradesh has earned the glory as a touristic destination since the days of the British. Himachal is famous for an abundance of Tibetain population, who fled here after the seizure of Tibet by China in 1950.  It is spread across valleys and 90% of the population lives in villages and towns that are well connected to roads. The state demarcated from the plains by the Shivalik Hills has five mighty rivers flowing through it – the Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej, Beas and Yamuna. Himachal Pradesh is also known as the ‘Apple state’ because the country’s first apples were cultivated here.     There are three domestic airports in Himachal Pradesh, namely Jubbarhatti Airport in Shimla, Gaggal Airport in Kangra and Bhuntar Airport in Kullu Manali and all the airports are well connected from major cities like Chandigarh and Delhi.

    BY ROAD
    There are frequent and affordable bus services that run in and out of the state connecting it with other parts of the country. Most popular routes of the buses head to Delhi, Chandigarh, Kashmir and Haryana.

    BY RAIL
    Kalka Railway station connects the state with Mumbai, New Delhi, Howrah and Jodhpur. One can travel to Shimla by boarding the narrow-gauged Toy Trains. Una Railway station is another important railway station that serves the state and has trains coming from different towns and cities of India. Some of the other narrow-gauge railway stations present in the state include Barog, Solan, Shoghi, Mandi, Bilaspur etc.

    Best time to visit Himachal Pradesh 

    Since Himachal Pradesh consists of Hills and Valleys and the climatic conditions are pleasant, the tourists prefer the best time to visit is winter season when snowfall occurs from October to February.
